LUANDA, Angola. – During the lecture Neto and Fidel, a friendship that boosted the independence of Angola and contributed to the liberation of Africa, academic Fernando Jaime said leaders Antonio Agostinho Neto and Fidel Castro Ruz marked Angola, Africa and the world.

The also manager of Jornal Eme, of the ruling Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola, added that both statesmen were and are among the essential ones.

When recalling Cuban support when Luanda was surrounded before the proclamation of Independence in 1975, Jaime said, “We will never ignore African solidarity with our cause, but with Cuba we create the premises that determined our dignity.”

The academic pointed out that the friendship between Cuba and Angola was built on the battlefield, where the pages of that history were written with blood, sweat and tears.
