Hanoi, Vietnam. – Cuba and Vietnam welcomed this Tuesday for the excellent state of their relations, in a meeting between the Secretary General of the Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong, and the President of the National Assembly of the People’s Power, Esteban Lazo.

In the talks that closed the second day of the official program of the Cuban delegation, the Vietnamese part highlighted the traditional ties of friendship and solidarity between the two nations and assured that the presence of the representation of the Cuban Parliament will strengthen them even more.

He also noted this visit takes place in a special context of bilateral links, referring to their excellent state.

Meanwhile, Lazo expressed satisfaction because of his reunion with his interlocutor and added that being in Vietnam is like being in our own home’.

He also explained some aspects of the documents approved in the recent plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Lazo and Phu Trong agreed to the need of elevating economic and commercial relations to the excellent level of the political ones, a goal both countries work to achieve.

In the morning session, Lazo held talks with Truong Thi Mai, president of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association and met with more than 100 professionals of different generations trained in the Caribbean nation.

Lazo dialogued on the eve with his counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, gave a speech to the Vietnamese legislative, where he explained that the objective of this official visit is to learn to take advantage of everything fitting our characteristics, and can serve us in the improvement of the People’s Power system.

Later President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received him, and both Vietnamese leaders highlighted the traditional ties of friendship and solidarity with Cuba and reaffirmed the support to this nation.

On Wednesday, the representation of the National Assembly of the People’s Power (ANPP) will move to the northern province of Son La, where local authorities will welcome them and they will visit places of social and economic interest.

They will fulfill the same agenda in Ho Chi Minh City and Ben Tre province, both in the south of Vietnam, until Sunday.

The head of the ANPP is accompanied by Yolanda Ferrer, president of its International Relations Committee, Jose Luis Toledo, his counterpart in the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, Joaquin Bernal, head of the Cuba-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, and deputy Caridad Diego.
