Maduro recalls victory over A.L.C.A.

CARACAS, Venezuela.- Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro recalled the defeat of the United States in attempting to impose the Area of the Free Commerce of the Americas at a regional meeting held in Mar del Plata in 2005.

During the Summit of the Americas in that Argentine city, the highest meeting of the Organization of American States, several progressive governments in the region rejected the American claims to establish this economic instrument aimed at subduing the economies of the countries in the area.

Through Twitter social network, Maduro highlighted the leadership of the then presidents Hugo Chavez, Nestor Kirchnner, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Tabare Vazquez.

The Venezuelan head of State added that the defeat of A.L.C.A. also opened the way to the expansion of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America – Trade Treaty of the Peoples.
