Havana, Cuba.- The 74th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany”s fascism in the Second World War (1939-1945) was remembered here on Thursday with a military ceremony and placing wreaths in the mausoleum in honor of the Soviet Internationalist Soldier.

During the ceremony, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cuba, Andrey Guskov, stressed the importance of the triumph over the Nazi forces, because with that victory ‘the criminal plans of world domination’ were defeated.

‘We are always going to be proud that the Soviet people did not tremble before the hard enemy when some countries preferred the dishonor of capitulation, hypocritical conciliation or direct collaboration with the Nazis,’ Guskov said.

For his part, the head of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (Minfar) of the island, Brigadier General Enrique Naranjo, recalled the role played by millions of Soviets and their allies, who prevented the advance of fascism, while calling for the construction of a world of friendship and solidarity.

‘Let’s build a world of friendship and solidarity among peoples, let’s not under any circumstances allow fascist ideas to be reborn,’ said Naranjo.

The floral offerings were deposited in the name of the embassies of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation in the Caribbean nation, in addition to the Minfar and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.

Those present also placed a red rose on the tumuli of the Mausoleum, where the remains of Soviet youths serving in Cuba rest.

The ceremony was attended by chiefs and officers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba, members of the diplomatic military corps accredited in Cuba, combatants from the military region of Havana, among other officials and guests.
