Havana, Cuba.- President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, stated on Wednesday that Venezuelan people defend peace and sovereignty in the face of an ongoing electric coup.

Diaz-Canel wrote in Twitter: ‘The Venezuelan people dignifiedly defend sovereignty and peace in the face of the ongoing electric coup. Venezuelan revolutionaries and patriots defend peace in every corner, parish, municipality, avenue, community and neighborhood,’ he added.

Cuban President in another message posted: ‘Stop the threats, sanctions, meddling and sabotage against the Venezuelan Revolution.’

The Head of State joined the international demand for ‘Hands off Venezuela’, amidst a context marked by sabotage against the South American nation’s power service, affecting millions of people.

He also voiced a message from Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who assured that the country would recover from the attacks.

Cuba has been among the most active nations in denouncing the aggressiveness of the United States against Venezuela and in demanding respect for the declaration of the region as a zone of peace, signed in Havana in January 2014, during the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
