BOGOTA, Colombia.- The Colombian Senate Peace Commission urged the government to resume peace dialogues and discussions with the National Liberation Army in order to achieve peace.
In a statement, the Peace Commission reported it received the ELN’s request with which they seek mediation with the government to facilitate the early restart of peace dialogues, suspended more than 60 days ago.
Through a public letter sent to the Peace commission of the Colombian Senate, the guerrillas asked for a meeting with the legislators to exchange ideas and facilitate with the government the retake of the round table.
More than two months ago, the last meeting between the parties took place, after the Ivan Duque Administration locked the dialogue imposing demands on the ELN for a new instance of approaches.
