BRAZILIA, Brazil. – The Brazilian Federal Police arrested today Tadeu Filippelli, former governor of Brasilia and Special adviser to President Michel Temer, for his involvement in the public funds diversion scandal.

Filippelli was arrested with former governors Agnelo Queiroz and Jose Arruda, as well as seven other people, accused of corruption by the overbilling of the works in the Mane Garrincha National Stadium.

The police indicated the recovery of the Stadium for the 2014 World Cup was budgeted in the equivalent of one hundred and eighty five million dollars, and at the end, it cost more than four hundred ninety million dollars.

The work was carried out without previous studies of economic feasibility, and the resources proceeded from the state Company of the Federal District, with expenses well above those envisaged.
