UNITED NATIONS, New York.- As it is traditional, the Non-Aligned Movement called today on the United Nations to end the United States blockade against Cuba, as demanded by the resolution now being discussed by the General Assembly.

Speaking on behalf of that group of nations, the representative of Venezuela called on the international community to vote against the amendments tabled by the United States, which, he said, seek to divert attention from the main topic of discussion.

The diplomat recalled that the Non-Aligned Movement has maintained a historic position of rejection of unilateral coercive measures used as tools of political pressure against States, especially against developing countries.

The blockade is a sign of the negative impact of these measures on peoples, the Venezuelan representative said, and pointed out that direct and indirect damage is huge on all Cubans.
