CARACAS, Venezuela. – The Communist Party of Venezuela proclaimed President Nicolas Maduro as his candidate for the general election on April 22, during the closing of its national conference.
The conference included the signing of an agreement between that organization and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela to work together for the development of the country and the well-being of the people, in the face of the oligarchy’s attempts to reverse the process of change.
On the occasion, Maduro ratified the invitation to all the revolutionary sectors to accompany him in the popular mobilization to the National Electoral Council, where he will formalize his candidacy for the elections.
The Venezuelan President said the decision taken at the polls will be respected, in the face of attempts by opposition parties to ignore the legitimacy of the process, and urged those forces to register their candidates and break their political dependence on the United States.
