SAINT JOHN, Antigua and Barbuda. – FedEx Parcel Company suspended international courier services to the Cuban Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda, due to the blockade imposed by the United States to the island, diplomatic sources reported.
Cuba is subject to exhaustive sanctions by the United States. Therefore, we could not transport any shipment from an Embassy of the Government of Cuba, and such shipments will be rejected, the American company said.
The letter addressed to Cuban Ambassador to Saint John, Gustavo Veliz, explains that FedEx and its subsidiaries, as US companies, are governed by the laws of that country, which makes it impossible to negotiate with governments subject to sanctions.
Cuba continues to be prevented from exporting and importing products and services freely to or from the United States, and cannot use the US dollar in its international financial transactions.
