Havana, Cuba.- Creators from many countries will join at the 2nd Havana Design Biennial (BDHabana 2019) to be held from May 20 to June 16, announced Wednesday a statement from its organizers.

Under the slogan Design Beyond Form, Cuba’s National Design Office launched the official call for this second edition, which became a multiple space for exchange and promotion on the importance of design for personal and social growth.

The Biennal, dedicated to the 500th Anniversary of Havana, proposes a vision focused on the user’s experience, favors an environment where design is synonymous with well-being, invites to think discipline as a creative process, fosters the bond of senses and encourages an authentic design, says the official note.

The event, in this edition, will be held from May 20 to 26 at the Hispanic American Cultural Center, along with other spaces in Havana with exhibitions, shows, catwalks and shows of Cuban and foreign design.

On the other hand, the Convention Palace in Havana will host the 10th International Congress of Design, FORM 2019, the theoretical meeting event.

The biennial will move to Santiago de Cuba from May 27 to June 7 to make the design of the eastern territory visible. It will travel to Camagüey, between June 10 and 16 to end there a design month in Cuba.

The event, with the objective of foster design´s presence and benefits, also aims to show the work of those professionals and institutions with a sustained work that serve as an example for their quality, creativity and innovation.

The meeting premises also includes Also included strengthening the link between Cuban and foreign design, as well as encourage the creation of networks of exchange between design and architecture, economics, communication and other similar disciplines. Both foreign and Cuban participants may compete in a dozen categories, which reward the quality, innovation and usefulness of the products.
