HAVANA, Cuba. – In the context of the International Convention on Public Health, Cuba and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) signed a participation agreement in the revolving funds for the purchase of vaccines, as well as for strategic supplies in this field.
With the signature of the documents by the Director of PAHO, Clarissa Etienne, and Cuban Minister of Health Roberto Morales, the island became a member country of these technical cooperation mechanisms, which favor the reduction of acquisition costs for vaccines, syringes, and other inputs.
The revolving fund for vaccine purchases establishes the expanded immunization program´s purpose of reducing the morbidity and mortality caused by preventable diseases.
Both tools contribute to strengthening the health programs of the Member States.
They Commends Cuban Progress in Health Regulation
Cuba’s competition for the high degree of reliability in sanitary regulation was highlighted in the Regulatory Forum, held as part of the Health for All International Fair.
Experts from the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices highlighted the institution’s mission to achieve safe products, quality and health efficiency.
Today, in the Health for All International Fair was given the keynote speech titled the Revolving and Strategic Fund of the Pan American Health Organization and Innovative Experiences for the Access to Vaccines and Medicines in the Region of the Americas.
Besides, in Pabexpo they will expose the importance of cardiac tests and markers in the management of patients with heart conditions.
