MEXICO CITY, Mexico. – The epicenter of an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude was registered this Friday afternoon in Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, and also wreaking havoc in the states of Mexico, Jalisco and Guerrero, according to the National Seismological Service.

Witnesses in Mexico City, 600 kilometers north of the epicenter, reported the earthquake felt very intense, although less than during the one occurred on September 19, which left 369 dead, according to official data.

Ana Gabriela Rojas, correspondent for BBC Mundo Mexico, reported that in the Mexican capital panic scenes were seen, when thousands of people went out into the streets, desperate, crying and hugging.

No human losses or serious material damage have been reported so far, but Civil Protection department began the eviction of some buildings in Mexico City.
