Dakar, Senegal.- Cuban Ambassador to Senegal Saylin Sanchez, and the new foreign minister of this African country, Amadou Ba, ratified their willingness to strengthen ties at a meeting in Dakar, diplomatic sources said on Monday.

Sanchez conveyed congratulations from Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez to Ba for his appointment at the helm of Senegal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Senegalese, according to a press release from the Cuban Embassy in Dakar.

She also thanked Senegal for its traditional support for the Cuban cause against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States.

The Cuban diplomat also met with the director of International Organizations and Globalization at the local Foreign Ministry, Cheikh Tidiane, the report added.

At the meeting, the Senegalese official expressed his admiration and respect for Cuba and repeated his country’s invariable support for the Caribbean nation.

As part of events to commemorate the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, Sanchez also visited the headquarters of the Senegalese News Agency, where she met with its director, Thierno Birahim, about the possibility of collaborating with the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina.

At all meetings, the Cuban ambassador to Senegal updated its interlocutors about her country’s situation, especially Washington’s escalation of aggressions.
