HAVANA, Cuba. – From this Monday until the next June 30 the electoral district commissions will be constituted throughout the country, as part of the program envisaged for the first stage of the general elections.

These structures composed of five members play an irreplaceable role, as Tomas Amaran Diaz, vice-president of the National Electoral Commission, said.

He explained that after their constitution, the members should take up their positions in solemn ceremonies; later it will be a training period to emphasize the fulfilment of their functions, as well as the full knowledge of the electoral law and other rules governing elections.

Among the responsibilities of these committees, Diaz mentioned the analysis of the nomination areas, the proposal of the program and the development of the assemblies, which take place from September 4 to 30.
