The Mexican Chancellor warned that the imposition of tariffs could have a counterproductive effect.

WASHINGTON, USA.- The Chancellor of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, said in Washington that there are great possibilities to negotiate with the United States and prevent the tariffs announced by President Donald Trump.

According to the Mexican Chancellor, his country will present a proposal related to migration and economy.

Previously, Ebrard warned that the imposition of tariffs and the U.S. decision to cancel aid programs for Northern Central American countries could have a counterproductive effect and would not reduce migratory flows.

The diplomat also advocated a cooperative solution with the United States and other international partners to address the root causes of migration from that area, including high rates of gang violence and lack of jobs.
