HAVANA, Cuba.- The Council of Liberator municipality of the Capital District of Venezuela, hailed the 500th anniversary of Havana, and ratified the feelings of solidarity with Cuba and the commitment to the anti-imperialist struggle and sovereignty.

In a meeting with the Cuban Ambassador to Caracas, Dagoberto Rodriguez, members of that municipal legislative body presented an agreement expressing their strongest rejection of the U.S. economic blockade against the Caribbean nation.

In this regard, Venezuelan councillors repudiated U.S. claims to destroy Cuba’s economy, as well as seeking to subdue Venezuela through the use of coercive measures.

Looking ahead to Havana’s 500th anniversary, the Municipal Council underlined the commitment to develop activities of friendship and solidarity towards the Cuban people, based on respect for dignity and peace for which both nations are fighting.
