Brasilia, Brasil.- The presidential candidate of the coalition The People Happy Again, Fernando Haddad, is already consolidated as the second in the intention to vote for next October”s elections in Brazil, a new poll confirmed today, in less than a week after his nomination.

According to the survey of the National Transport Confederation (CNT/MDA), held between September 13 and 15, the candidate of the Workers Party (PT) has the support of 17.6 percent of potential voters and is outdone only by the representative of the far right, Jair Bolsonaro (28.2).

Haddad is followed by Ciro Gomes, of the Labor Democratic Party (PDT) with 10.8 percent; the former governor of Sao Paulo and candidate of the Party of the Brazilian Social Democracy (PSDB), Geraldo Alckmin, with 6.1; and Marina Silva (Rede), 4.1 percentage points.

The presidential candidate of the ruling Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), Henrique Meirelles, reaches only 1.7 of the voting intentions, ranking even below of Joao Amoedo, New Party with 2.8; and Senator Alvaro Dias (We can), who reaches 1.9 percent.

The CNT/MDA survey also contemplated another 15 possible scenarios for a runoff, in four of which Bolsonaro would win against Haddad (39.0 by 35.7 percent of the votes); Meirelles (38.6-25.7), Alckmin (38.2-27.7) and Silva (39.4-28.2). With the only one Haddad would lose would be with Gomes (36.1-37.8).

The CNT/MDA survey also evaluated the management of the current government and President Michel Temer. In the case of the former, 81.5 percent described it as negative, while 89.7 percent disapproved of what was done by the Planalto Palace occupant after the parliamentary-judicial coup perpetrated in 2016.
