SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Chile.- Chile’s trade unionists said the Leader Company could join the national strike of the College of Teachers of that nation and that of the Chuquicamata copper miners.

The board of the Leader Trade Union reported that this week they could approve the strike, after rejecting last Friday’s offer from Walmart, the American transnational they belong.

They explained that until next Thursday, the more than 17,000 affiliates will vote if they go to possible unemployment, which will be the largest in the private sector in Chile with the closure of about 100 supermarkets.

They also clarified that Walmart’s job conversion plans include eliminating jobs, imposing extreme multi-functionality on operators, and paying less benefits.
