NEW YORK, USA.- The Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, said that the blockade of the United States is the biggest challenge on the island for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

This policy causes serious damage to the Cuban people, and is the main obstacle to the nation’s development, the Minister said when speaking at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

Despite the majority rejection of the international community and large U.S. sectors, the blockade escalates by the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, and new sanctions against Cuban entities, Malmierca pointed out.

Even so, Cuba is making progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, which becomes the country in the second one in the world with the lowest value in the Multidimensional Poverty Index, Malmierca said.
