Pretoria, South Africa.- The Police and Prisons Civil Right Union (POPCRU) has thanked Cuba for the international deployment of doctors to fight Covid-19.

In a statement, POPCRU ‘salutes and thanks the noble, human and exemplary actions by the Cuban government by sending 593 medical workers to 14 countries to fight the pandemic.’

Their excellent knowledge and training and the fact they are used to working in high-risk conditions, provide invaluable support to the many Covid-19 people.

This is because Cuba has been sending health professionals around the world for more than 60 years, and this has been done only in solidarity with those in need, POPCRU highlighted. Over 200 Cuban doctors are currently working in clinics and hospitals in our country, and according to our Ministry of Health, that figure is expected to increase.
