Paris, France.- Cuba and France analyzed today the implementation and monitoring of the Bilateral Economic Agenda, during the second session of the Mixed Economic and Trade Commission, held in this capital.

According to the Havana embassy in Paris, during the meeting ‘both parties recognized the boost that bilateral economic and trade ties have received and reaffirmed their interest in continuing to strengthen them based on the development of institutional cooperation and the increase in exchanges between companies. ‘

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, and the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.

The commission analyzed the implementation of the Bilateral Economic Agenda, which aims to encourage cooperation between companies, particularly in the sectors of tourism, health, agriculture, energy and transport.

The Cuban delegation ‘highlighted the importance of bilateral economic relations, as well as the progress made during the first year of the establishment of the French Development Agency in our country,’ noted the statement.

The text added that ‘the climate of mutual understanding in which the session passed confirmed the willingness of both States to guarantee, strengthen and advance economic and commercial collaboration.’

In recent years, bilateral relations have experienced a period of strengthening with important events such as the visit to Havana of the then French president, François Hollande, in 2015, and then the stay in Paris of the Cuban head of state, Raúl Castro, in 2016.

Another relevant moment was the opening in the Cuban capital of a headquarters of the French Agency for Development, with the view to continue promoting the strengthening of ties in sectors such as trade and investment.
