Havana, Cuba.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Sunday that the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States damages the Cuban people and attempts against the countries” sovereignty and interests.

On his Twitter account, the Cuban president noted that this situation results from the aggressive extraterritorial implementation of that unilateral policy.

On Saturday, Diaz-Canel pointed out on Twitter that the blockade is the main obstacle to the country’s economic progress, and noted that it is the most comprehensive and longer system of economic sanctions ever imposed on any country.

A few days before the United Nations General Assembly votes on a new draft resolution on the necessity to end the blockade, on October 31, several denunciations have been made in Cuba and abroad to demand that Washington lift that policy.

Since 1992, similar draft resolutions have been approved by an overwhelming majority of countries.
