HAVANA, Cuba. – The National Electoral Commission, in pursuit of the Agreement of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba of September 18 this year, decided to extend until October 30 the nomination assemblies of candidates for delegates to the municipal organ of the People´s Popular.
The extension of the aforementioned timetable will allow the nomination assemblies of candidates to be carried out with the required quality and that the population, immersed in the recovery of the affectations provoked by Hurricane Irma, can participate actively in the assemblies.
The voter lists will be published on October 19 and 20, ensuring that the constituency commissions and the corresponding registration will end the verification and updating of that document on the scheduled date.
The training of electoral authorities at all levels, with special emphasis on those composing constituency electoral commissions, was rescheduled and will be developed from November 1st to 17.
The biographies and photos of the candidates for delegates to the municipal Assemblies of the People´s Popular will be published from November 1st.
As reported, November 26 is the new date indicated by the Council of State to elect for the term of two and a half years the grassroots representatives to the municipal organ of the People’s Power, and December 3 for the second round, in those constituencies where none of the candidates have obtained more than half of the valid votes.
