Havana, Cuba. – 17 members of the National Electoral Commission of Cuba signed the Act of inauguration of their positions and received the certification accrediting their designation for the important task, in a solemn ceremony.

When reading the oath, President of the commission Alina Balseiro ratified the commitment of loyalty to the country, and stressed that the performance must be characterized by fairness, and transparency of information.

For her part, the Vice-President of the National Assembly of the People’s Power, Ana Maria Mari Machado, highlighted that the accredited people assume the responsibility to organize and validate the Cuban electoral process.

She noted this is a step of symbolism and transcendence, and affirmed the Cuban people have their own political and electoral system, adjusted to our history and social and cultural reality.
