Havana, Cuba.- The recognition given to Habanos S.A. as Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), shows the Cuban commercial panorama reinforces its development model.

This condition was previously given to Internacional Cubana del Tabaco S.A. and Moa Nickel as symbols of the most important exports of this archipelago.

Habanos S.A. since this Wednesday holds such a category, ratifying the company’s efficiency and security in spaces related to exports, given its attention worldwide.

The AEO consists that the National Customs Authority authorizes an enterprise to show it is committed to the security of its supply chain and shows a clean slate of tributary and customs obligations.

As the Cuban customs is obliged to follow international logistic rules and harmonizing with legitimate trade, it is correct to clarify that the systems related with security appear as a consequence of the impact of illegal acts worldwide.

Then appear strategies of countries and the response of international organizations as is the case of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).

For these reasons, the WTO presented in Bali, Indonesia (2013), the Agreement on Facilitation of Trade.

In this string, the WCO promoted since 2005 the initiative of the figure Authorized Economic Operator, with the support of other elements such as the Normative Framework to Ensure and Facilitate Global Trade (SAFE framework).

Statistics indicate that over 60 countries have WCO programs, among them have solid models the European Union, the United States, Canada, China, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Singapur.

And in the Latin American and Caribbean region, develop that program Argentina, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia and Bolivia.

Also, Cuba is among other nations that at present execute their Pilot Projects for the implementation of Authorized Economic Operator.

Documents of the Cuban customs on this issue, looks to make faster and more efficient trade, indispensable pillars in the updating of the economic model of this country.
