HAVANA, Cuba. – In La Coronela neighborhood, in La Lisa municipality, the Meteor Exercise was developed this Sunday, consisting of how to act against a supposed earthquake of moderate intensity that collapsed several apartment buildings.
The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, who attended the practice, said that in this exercise all the plans were updated, taking into account the issues that delayed solutions during Hurricane Irma, such as pumping water and generators groups.
Diaz-Canel pointed out that this training in the capital was very important because the confrontation with an earthquake was addressed, and the correct and rigorous response of the staff was appreciated.
The Cuban President insisted that this exercise has not been frequent in the practice we are accustomed to against hurricanes and floods. He added that in developed nations there is no training exercise like that in Cuba.
