Cuban companies could take more advantage of the advantageous business opportunities in Mariel.

HAVANA, Cuba. – The Director General of the Mariel Special Zone of Development Ana Teresa Igarza remarked this Thursday that Cuban companies could take more advantage of the advantageous business opportunities in the enclave.

The expert said that so far, foreign companies are leading the way as users of the business center, but it is also interesting that national entities invest there, independently and in alliance with foreign firms.

Igarza pointed out the Mariel Special Zone of Development currently has 24 approved users. Fourteen of them are investments of foreign capital in one hundred percent, five respond to mixed firms and only four belong to Cuban companies.

Igarza highlighted among the objectives to encourage integral projects allowing replacing imports, to promote exports with national products of high added value and to generate jobs.
