CARACAS, Venezuela. – Hermann Escarra, president of the Constitutional Commission of the National Constituent Assembly, said that the new Magna Carta de Venezuela will emphasize the defense of national sovereignty.

Escarra pointed out that the first document consigned by the Constitutional Commission to the Assembly board contains the papers and contributions for the deepening of the Magna Carta and will be democratically supported.

The President of the Constitutional Commission noted these proposals respond to the systematic actions of sectors on the right to promote interference and harassment against Venezuela in the economic field.

Escarra rejected the campaign of disrepute, promoted by the opposition and the economic attacks against the country, while emphasizing the conscience of the Venezuelan people to resist this juncture and to remain ready to defend sovereignty.
