GENEVA, Switzerland.- The Switzerland-Cuba Chamber of Commerce and Industry condemned the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act by the United States Government, and emphasized it has a marked extraterritorial character.
A statement by the entity recalls the international community, especially by the European Union and Canada reject such legislation, and in this regard, the text explains that US sanctions cannot be applied in Switzerland.
Title III of the Helms-Burton Act allows US nationals to sue people and entities to the American justice, even from third countries who invest in Cuban territory in properties nationalized after the triumph of the Revolution.
The Switzerland-Cuba Chamber of Commerce and Industry also highlights the position of the Government of Havana, which on several occasions ratified its support to foreign firms in the face of the hostility of the northern nation.
