BRAZILIA, Brazil.- Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, former President of Brazil, will not be released for the time being, after the President of the Supreme Federal court suspended the decision that could have allowed his liberation.

The President of the Court, Antonio Dias Toffoli, annulled the precautionary measure that a court judge had issued and could have released Lula, who is serving a 12-year sentence for alleged passive corruption and money laundering.

Dias Toffoli pronounced himself in this regard in response to an appeal filed by the Attorney General’s Office that the precautionary measure could cause a serious injury to order and security. The President of the Court ruled they will take care of the case after returning from vacation.

Since last April, Lula remains in prison as party of the mega operation known as Lava Jato, which revealed a plot of corruption around the Petrobras State company.
