Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Rogelio Sierra, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Kamina Johnson Smith

KINGSTON, Jamaica.- The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Rogelio Sierra, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Kamina Johnson Smith, to review the state of relations between the two parties.

At a meeting at the Jamaican Chancellery, as part of the two-day visit of the Cuban delegation, both officials addressed issues such as the cooperation their countries maintain in the area of health.

Diplomatic sources reported that during the meeting they highlighted issues such as Cuba and Jamaica´s efforts to increase trade exchanges, which the Jamaican Chancellor highlighted the potential shared in this regard.

Johnson Smith also pointed out the existence of legal and cooperation instruments, which will facilitate exports and imports between the two countries for the benefit of their peoples.

They Expand Bilateral Links between Cuba and Jamaica

The meeting between the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Rogelio Sierra, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Kamina Johnson Smith, was an opportune moment to discuss the challenges both nations share in the new international context, official sources reported.

Sierra thanked Jamaica’s historic support for the various battles waged by Cuba, in particular the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States.

Jorge Mayo, Director of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean in the Cuban Chancellery, and the Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Ines Fors, attended the meeting.

For the Jamaican side they were present Vice-Chancellor Ambassador Marcia Gilbert-Roberts, and Marsha Coore, America and Caribbean director, among other officials.
