Havana, Cuba.-To pay tribute to The Beatles from Havana today is an acknowledgment of the cultural movement they originated and an opportunity to reiterate the Cuban people”s call for peace, said journalist and critic Guille Vilar.

At a press conference, the cultural promoter and director of major music programs said that the concert planned for next Thursday will bring together seven bands in the capital John Lennon Park, a very significant place for rock followers in this country.

This initiative will pay tribute to The Boys of Liverpool, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, considered one of the best and best-sold albums in history.

By its part, the singer and composer David Blanco said it will be a great celebration and an opportunity to demonstrate the Cuban cultural wealth and influence of the British group.

The Beatles, with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, is one of the most acclaimed music bands of all times with numerous followers around the world.

The LP Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, released on June 1, 1967, is their eighth album, with which they won four Grammy Awards in 1968.
