Cuban Vice-President congratulates new Japanese Emperor.

Roberto Morales highlighted the development of friendly links between Cuba and Japan.

HAVANA, Cuba.- Cuban Vice-President Roberto Morales congratulated the assumption of the new Emperor of Japan, Naruhito, and the beginning of the Reiwa era, which coincides with the 90th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.

Under this new era, we express the desire to continue the development of friendly links between Cuba and Japan, the Vice-President said after signing the book prepared for the occasion at the headquarters of the Japanese Embassy in Havana.

Morales, accompanied by Cuban Vice-Chancellor Anayansi Rodriguez, added that both nations will continue promoting international peace, harmony, dialogue and understanding.

The assumption of the new Emperor represents the Reiwa era, which according to the government, means Beautiful Harmony, comes from the Manyoshu (the oldest existing anthology of Japanese poetry), and evokes culture as a bridge to unify the citizens of the archipelago.
