BEIJING, China.- The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, said this Wednesday that his current visit to China is the result of continuity and consolidation of bilateral relations, developed continuously for 58 years between the two countries.

During a meeting with Wang Yang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Diaz-Canel highlighted that the journey has an additional significance, because it occurs in the midst of a process led by the First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, Raul Castro Ruz.

Diaz-Canel explained that under Raul´s guide, a new generation is placing itself in the main responsibilities of the Party and the Government.

Therefore, he considered this visit another propitious opportunity to reinforce the friendship and the desire to work always with China, in favor of strengthening the links between the two States and their peoples.

Cuba and China Strengthen Links

Wang Yang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, during his dialogue with Miguel Diaz-Canel qualified the Cuban ruler as an old friend who always promoted friendship and cooperation in different areas with active contributions to the bilateral agenda.

Wang expressed confidence that the meetings with President Xi Jinping will help to elevate to historical levels the forged links on the basis of fraternity, mutual respect and collaboration with benefits for both parts.

In the next few hours, the Cuban President will meet with the Chinese leader, Prime Minister Li Keqiang, and the President of the National People’s Assembly and the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese people, Li Zhanshu, in the Grand Palace of the People.

There are also plans to sign bilateral agreements and tours to sites of historic importance in Beijing.
