Raul and Diaz-Canel send floral offerings in tribute to Cespedes

HAVANA, Cuba.- Floral offerings by Army General Raul Castro Ruz and the President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, were placed at the Father of the Fatherland Monument in Arms Square, in Havana.

At that emblematic place in Old Havana it has held a ceremony on the occasion of the anniversary of the beginning of the wars of independence by Carlos Manuel de Cespedes. Members of the Central Committee of the Party, and Yoel Cordovi, director of the Institute of History of Cuba, attended.

As part of the tribute, participants toured the 10-year-old War Hall at the Palace of the Captains General, which shelters personal items from the initiator of the ’68 exploit.

The event was also attended by Party officials in the province and Old Havana municipality, workers from the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana and students.
