Cuban First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

HABANA, Cuba. – Dedicated to Vilma Espin and the historical leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro, the meeting of the Board of the Regional Conference on Women of Latin America and the Caribbean is held at National Hotel in Havana. Cuban First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel presided over is opening.

The meeting addresses issues such as the implementation of gender equality plans in the context of the 2030 Agenda and the Objectives of Sustainable Development.

Teresa Amarelle, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women, remarked that Cuba can be a reference in the regional context, due to the public policies promoted with the active participation of the FMC, as a national mechanism for women´s progress.

This Board of the Regional Conference on Women of Latin America and the Caribbean, with 19 member countries, is organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
