HAVANA, Cuba.- Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, sent this Tuesday a message of condolence through his Twitter account on the demise of former Vietnamese President Le Duc Ahn.

The message says, A warm hug and condolences to your Government and people for Le Duc Anh´s death, former president of the country, veteran of 4 wars,  fighting partner of Ho Chi Minh and recognized combatant against the invaders of his country. Honor to his heroic legacy. We are Cuba.

Le Duc Anh died in Hanoi at 99, due to illness. He was the second-in-command of the Ho Chí Minh Campaign, t that put an end to the three-decade conflict in Vietnam.

In October 1995 he visited Cuba as President. At that time, Hanoi sent important rice donations to Havana.
