Havana, Cuba.- Cuba and Japan signed an agreement today to reorganize their debits in the medium and long terms, as part of the process to reorganize the debs with the Ad Hoc Group of creditor countries in the Paris Club.

A report by the newspaper Granma highlighted that the document was signed during a meeting between a delegation presided over by Japanese Ambassador to Cuba, Maseru Watanabe and Government Vice President and Minister of Economy and Planning, Ricardo Cabrisaas.

According to the information, this step fully regularizes the debt, with 13 of the 14 members of the Ad Hoc Group, facilitating ways to finance projects related to economic and social development plans in the island.

Both sides highlighted the positive state of the bilateral relations and stressed the existing potential to increase them in the economic-trade, investment and cooperation sectors.

On the Japanese side, besides the ambassador, the participants included Counselor Ryosuke Yamakura; third Secretary of the embassy Jun Komase; Ken Hashiba and Shigetomo Maruhashi, from the Foreign Ministry, Takeshi Yasuraoka, from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Keiji Wada and Arihiro Saito, from the Export and Investment Insurance Company.

On the Cuban side, those participating in the meeting were Vice Minister of Economy and Planning Amelia Morales Dominguez; Cuban National Bank President Rene Lazo; Cuban Central Bank Director and Vice president, Isaac Hernandez, and Arnaldo Alayon, respectively; Director of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment Rigoberto Enoa and Cuban Ambassador to Japan Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez, among other officials.
