La Paz, Bolivia.- President Evo Morales said here Bolivia would become the energy heart of South America by 2025, year in which it is expected to generate nine thousand megawatts (MW).

After implementing several projects of power generation, creating thermoelectric, hydroelectric, eolic, solar and geothermal plants, the South American nation would be in a condition to produce nine thousand MW, to satisfy its domestic demand and export to neighboring countries.

Morales recalled that at the beginning of his mandate in 2006, the country generated some 750 MW, situation that changed thaniks to the development program of the Patriotic Agenda 2025, and now domestic demand is 1500 MW.

At present he asserted Bolivia produces 2100 MW, with a reserve of 600 MW, figure he hopes to increase with the operation next year of three thermoelectric plants of combined cycles of the country that should add some one thousand MW to the Interconnected National Grid.

The nation would then produce over 3000 MW for 2019, year when Bolivia expects to export a figure exceeding 100 MW to Argentina, when the transmission line in that country is completed.

He referred that 12 years ago when two thousand MW for 2025 was put in doubt, debates between authorities and experts arrived at the conclusion that the nation has conditions to produce nine thousand MW for that date.
