Raul Castro, first secretary of the Party, and Miguel Diaz Canel, president of the Councils of State and Ministers, presided over the act for the 60th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution in Santiago de Cuba.

On behalf of our people, thousands of people from Santiago attended the commemorative ceremony that takes place in the Santa Ifigenia Heritage Cemetery, in front of Fidel, Martí, Céspedes and Mariana Grajales, symbols of the Patria history.

Sixty years ago, from the City Hall in Céspedes Park, where he had arrived at the front of the rebel troops from the Sierra Maestra, the Commander in Chief proclaimed then: This time, YES, which is the Revolution.

As Fidel predicted that historic January 1, 1959, the Revolution that had just begun that day, has been a hard and full of dangers, but under his guidance the people made it indestructible.
