Havana, Cuba.- UN General Director of U.S. Affairs at the Cuban Foreign Ministry Carlos Fernandez de Cossio reiterated in Havana on Thursday that Cuba guarantees security of all people, including the members of the accredited diplomatic staff.

The official, accompanied by experts, offered a press briefing to provide details about the alleged health incidents of American and Canadian diplomats, used, in case of U.S. citizens, by the Donald Trump government as a pretext to escalate in aggressiveness against Cuba.

We do not doubt that some diplomats are sick, but we assure that the cause is not the so-called ‘sonic attacks’ of which we want to accuse, he warned.

According to Fernandez de Cossio, this issue represents a national security issue for Cuba.

Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Hernandez told national and foreign journalists that sound-emitting device cannot be purchased on Cuba, nor its import is allowed, as those described by the United States to try to explain what happened.

Washington insists on using the term attacks for the supposed health problems experienced by its diplomats, a position Havana frames in the interest of the current administration in the White House in reversing the steps for the bilateral approach given during Barack Obama administration, particularly those achieved in 2015 and 2016.
