Mexico, City.- Mexico and Cuba begin here meetings at the level of Foreign Ministries to tackle important issues of bilateral ties and others of regional interest, deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra told Prensa Latina.

‘These are two important meetings that will outline the ties between both countries: that of the migratory working group and that of the political consultation mechanism, the latter with more than 20 years of implementation,’ he explained.

Sierra will have Ambassador Luis Alfonso del Alba as counterpart, and both will chair the delegations of their respective countries in the meetings on May 3rd and 4th at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said that the immigration flow will be discussed within the migration subject and the memorandum of understanding on this issue will be assessed, with the possibility of reaching new agreements in this regard.

During the political discussions, the progress of cooperation ties will be assessed, agreements on legal issues will be also assessed or signed, as well as regional and multilateral issues discussed.

Among the issues to be discussed are the economic, financial and commercial blockade that the United States Government set up against Cuba and the work of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), while discussing their stances toward the recent Summit of the Americas held in Lima, Peru.
