Havana, Cuba.- The title Marine Meteorology, one of the novelties of the Cuban company of information technologies and telematic services (Citmatel), present today at the Havana Book Fair, allows an approach to oceanographic phenomena.

The text, which is offered in electronic format, is based on the fact that we live on an island surrounded by sea, stated its author, Ida Mitrani, also secretary of the Scientific Council of the Meteorological Society of Cuba, and member of the National Wind Energy.

In this regard, the volume answers questions such as: what are the main physical-chemical properties of seawater; how the waves are generated, coastal floods and marine currents; and the vertical distribution of the wind in the lower layers of the atmosphere.

In addition, the text deals with other phenomena related to these processes, such as tides and tsunamis, according to the synopsis.

Likewise, she adds, it emphasizes in the particularities of the tropical zone, the waters bordering Cuba and the Cuban coastal perimeter, with some assessments about the predicted climate change.
