PRETORIA, South Africa. – On a memorial site, not far from the center of Pretoria, a huge wall is printed with the names of the more than 2,000 Cubans fallen in Angola.

This permanent tribute is located in the Freedom Park of Pretoria, where on a wall with the names are included the more than 2,200 Cubans killed in Angola and other countries of the African continent.

For the now-defunct legendary South African leader Nelson Mandela, the Cuban people’s contribution to independence in Africa is unparalleled by the principles and disinterest that characterize it.

Cuba’s role in the overthrow of Apartheid is often prominent in South Africa and its president, Cyril Ramaphosa, always mentions this participation and the excellent friendship and cooperation binding the two countries together.
