Havana, Cuba.- Fidel lives, President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Sunday when the second anniversary of the physical disappearance of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution is commemorated.

In another tweet, the Cuban leader stressed that in their tribute the people show gratefulness.

The day before, hundreds of young Cubans, along with their president, attended the ‘Siempre Fidel’ gala, held on the emblematic stairway of the University of Havana for the two years of his death where the new generation evoked the Commander in Chief .
During the ceremony, the Second Secretary of the Union of Young Communists (UJC in Spanish), Ronald Hidalgo, said that during the two years of Fidel’s absence, his stature has grown, his ideas have multiplied and his legacy has become more necessary.
‘That unanimous cry of I am Fidel, whose echo still shakes every space on this earth, is not an empty slogan, nor occasional exclamation, it was the irreversible confirmation that in the hearts of millions of Cubans beats the unwavering commitment to always follow his example,’ Hidalgo stressed.
The evening was attended by artists of different manifestations, who joined through songs, verses and dances to remember the imprint of Fidel Castro.
