Support and solidarity with Cuba grows

HAVANA, Cuba.- Progressive organizations of the world together with social movements with their Cuban chapter, will be in Havana coordinating strategies in defense of the sovereignty of peoples, Teresa Amarelle Boue, Secretary General of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) said.

When speaking at the Round Table TV program, dedicated to the Anti-imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, Amarelle Boue added it was Fidel who warned of the importance of the unity of social movements.

The official stated that in front of the treat of the powerful in Davos, Switzerland, Latin American left-wing forces were articulated, joined by Chavez and other representatives who achieved a strong triumph against the Free Trade Area for the Americas (FTAA).

The Secretary General of FMC said this is a key moment considering the imperial onslaught along with the right of some puppet governments.

Present Legacies of Fidel and Chavez

Fernando Gonzalez, President of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) stated at the Round Table TV program that the event in Havana is an opportunity to design plans of solidarity with Cuba, against the blockade and suffocation the empire intends to apply to the Cuban people.

Gonzalez explained that the Anti-imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, from November 1 to 3, will address the topics Democracy, Sovereignty and Anti-Imperialism, Youth: Strategies and Continuity in Struggles, and Decolonization and Cultural War, among others.

Omar Gonzalez, coordinator of the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity in Cuba, highlighted the action of intellectuality with mobilizations, timely alerts and dismantling of macabre strategies against peoples.

The panelists emphasized that the legacy of Fidel and Chavez, defenders of the world’s poor, is present in this battle.
