SANCTI SPIRITUS, Cuba. – The Historic Complex Commander Camilo Cienfuegos, located in Sancti Spiritus, was officially declared a National Monument, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the physical disappearance of the Hero of Yaguajay.
In the award ceremony, the historical value of the monumental complex was highlighted. It contains the most complete exhibition dedicated to Camilo Cienfuegos, the Lord of the Vanguard.
The director of the monumental complex emphasized the institution opened three decades ago, and includes a museum, sculptural ensemble and square, as well as the Mausoleum of the Las Villas North Front and also Joaquin Paneca Hospital, formerly the barracks of Fulgencio Batista´s dictatorship.
The official pointed out that from the very moment of the physical disappearance of Camilo Cienfuegos, the people decide to build a monument to his memory.
