Cuban doctors work in La Higuera, Bolivia.
LA HIGUERA, Bolivia. – Working as doctors today in La Higuera, means to keep Che’s legacy alive in the last corner of the land where he remained, nurse Aniuska Pereira of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Bolivia said.
Pereira and her husband, Dr. Yacel Garcia, work and live in the region, where with a small plant to supply electricity to the office, they care for free to about one hundred people.
We never thought of being in the place where Che died, it is an honor to maintain his example and the teachings of internationalism we learned from the guerrilla and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the Cuban specialist said.
Aniuska and Yacel have stayed at La Higuera less than a month, they relieved another couple of Cuban doctors who, like them, give love, health and keep Che alive as a doctor, human and revolutionary.
