International and National congresses on Ophthalmology in Havana, 2018.

HAVANA, Cuba.- “Our country has been an example for the world in its participation in the visual recovery of more than three million people,” Carmen Rosa Martinez, National Director of Medical Care of the Ministry of Public Health, said in the Convention Palace of Havana.

At the opening of the International and National congresses on Ophthalmology, the expert argued that the results of the Operation Miracle, the creation of ophthalmological centers in Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, among other nations, guaranteed those achievements of the Cuban professionals.

Carmen Rosa Martinez praised that Cuba already reaches more than 30 thousand cataract surgeries.

In the Ophthalmology congresses, the official said there are more than 1300 of these specialists in Cuba, 182 residents, of them more than 100 are from other nations.
